About Our Founder

Jim McCune has lived and breathed the automotive and heavy equipment world for over 30 years. From the roar of the engines at Indy, to the growl of agricultural harvesters, Jim has been a key figure in an emerging industry.

Jim was in his teens when he started turning wrenches at a local Buick dealership – the staff’s youngest mechanic. Soon he was managing service departments for Chevrolet and Oldsmobile. His extensive understanding of frame and body damage was earned the old fashioned way, as he led the body shops at top level dealerships.

He has consistently blended his work with his passion – particularly on the race track. Jim has built numerous race-winning midgets, sprint cars and extreme off-road vehicles. A licensed SCCA driver, Jim was a spotter on a race team at the Indy 500, and was employed by the famous Porter Racing team of Southern California.

Jim’s deep knowledge of heavy equipment was built running commercial harvesters and 18-wheelers. At one point, his operation boasted 10 electronic tomato harvesters, numerous wheeled tractors and crawlers – while the product moved on trucks he owned and managed.

This vast body of experience was harnessed for 10 years by Crawford and Company, where Jim served as the Denver-based firm’s senior heavy-equipment appraiser. The duties called upon Jim’s well rounded skills in welding, fabrication, chassis set-up, frame repair and engine diagnostics.

Whether it’s a simple fender-bender, or catastrophic damage to a million-dollar earth-mover, Jim McCune leads a company with the experience and passion to get your job done right.
